July 12, 2017 Express Entry Draw – CRS Cut-Off Threshold Decreases
On July 12, 2017, the 67th Express Entry Draw took place and the results were a decrease in the cut-off threshold. The CRS cut-off threshold has decreased by nine points since the previous draw, which took place on June 28.
The candidates in the Express Entry pool , who applied for immigration to Canada, with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points of 440 or more have been sent Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian Permanent Residency in the July 12th Express Entry draw. This time around, a total of 3,202 candidates were invited. The following are the details of the draw:
- Draw Number: 67th Express Entry draw.
- Draw Date: 12 July, 2017
- Number of ITAs Issued: 3,202
- Minimum CRS: 440
The July 12, 2017 draw was the second draw that took place since changes were made to the CRS last month. It was expected that the CRS cut-off threshold would go up for a short period of time because of the fact that some candidates in the Express Entry pool, especially those with a sibling living in Canada or those who are fluent in French language skills, received a boost in their score last month. In addition to that, the longer than usual gap between the draws last month would also have been a contributing factor to the threshold going up before the June 28th, 2017 draw.
While the threshold has not decreased to its historic low of 413 or beyond CRS points, candidates remaining in the pool may take heart that the CRS cut-off threshold did decrease on this occasion- even more so when it is also taken into account that there were slightly fewer Invitations to Apply (ITAs) issued this time around than previously.
*Note: Draws of May 26 invited provincial nominees with a minimum CRS score of 775, and candidates in the Federal Skilled Trades Class with a minimum score of 199.
Following the July 12 draw, a total of 54,487 ITAs have been issued so far in 2017, far surpassing the total that were issued in the whole of last year. According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Express Entry is now the main driver of economic immigration to Canada.
